Nalini Andrade

Director

As Director of IDI, Nalini is responsible for developing international collaborations and overseeing IDI’s projects across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Nalini Andrade is an international development practitioner with a strong commitment to addressing challenges across the education and employment sectors. She has over fifteen years of experience developing and implementing innovative solutions in skills training, livelihoods, gender empowerment, community development and social entrepreneurship. As Director of the International Development Institute at Humber College, Nalini is responsible for international collaborations and capacity-building projects. Since joining the team in 2018, she has supported and grown Humber’s presence in the global development space, using her knowledge and lived experience to manage program portfolios across East Africa and the Indo-Pacific. She is currently on assignment to Bhutan, overseeing Humber’s engagement in the region. Nalini obtained her Masters in Social Policy and Development from the London School of Economics. She also holds a Bachelors in Social Work from Mumbai University and a Diploma in Human Rights Law from the National Law School India.

Jorge Montoya

Manager of Business and Operations

Jorge is IDI’s Manager of Business and Operations for global development projects consisting of education reform, and development projects in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Bhutan, and Peru.

Jorge Montoya Blandon brings more than 15 years of experience as an applied education specialist, in financial services, systems design and international project management. His in-depth experience, surpassing 10 years in the planning, change management, monitoring, and evaluation of international development projects, serves him well as IDI’s business and operations lead for global development projects consisting of education reform, and development projects in the Global South. Jorge is versed in GAC’s approach to RBM, is a systems-thinker and embeds technology for international project management to lower barriers to education.

Atousa Hosseini

Finance Specialist

As IDI’s Finance Specialist, Atousa supports the development and maintenance of systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of IDI's project finances.

Atousa Hosseini has a Bachelor of Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology and worked in feasibility studies, technical studies and detail engineering of chemical projects for several years. She continued her education in Business Management and Accounting at the University of Toronto. She has over ten years of experience in accounting, financial planning, and analysis in different fields, such as the pharmaceutical industry, non-profit organizations, and accounting firms.

Clarisse Estebar

International Development Project Lead

Clarisse is a Project Lead and manages the STEM Education for Empowerment Project (STEEP).

Clarisse Estebar has worked for the Provincial Services Division under the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in operations and administration. She is a Humber College alum graduating from the Bachelor of International Development program and Project Management Certificate. Clarisse is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership at the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

Ana Garcia

International Development Project Lead

Ana is a Project Lead and manages capacity-building and applied research projects in Bhutan and Kenya.

Ana Garcia has over fifteen years of experience in capacity-building projects in Latin America, Asia, and Africa funded by Global Affairs Canada, the European Union, the Interamerican Development Bank and the Multilateral Investment Fund. Ana holds a master's in international relations and two postgraduate certificates in Project Management and Research and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Local Development and International Cooperation.

Vidushi Sanghadia

International Development Project Lead

Vidushi is a Project Lead and manages projects in East Africa.

Vidushi Sanghadia has a legal background with a bachelor’s degree in arts and law from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research in Hyderabad, India, and holds an Ontario postgraduate certificate in International Development from Humber. She has previously worked with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in India as a Refugee Status Determination Officer, working closely with vulnerable populations from Asian and Central African countries.

Juanita Perez

International Development Project Lead

Juanita is a Project Lead and manages projects in Kenya and previously managed Humber-led and supported projects in Peru.

Juanita Perez is an economist with postgraduate degrees in Defense economics and economic security. Juanita graduated from Humber College's program of International Development and has over 15 years of experience in project management in development in Latin America and Africa, funded by Global Affairs Canada, the US Department of State, and the government of Colombia.

Dilinika Rajarathna

Gender Equality Advisor

Dilinika is IDI’s Gender Equality Advisor and is responsible for promoting and strengthening the inclusion and mainstreaming of gender equality in IDI projects.

Dilinika Rajarathna has more than five years of experience in International Relations, International Trading and International Development, working for several regions like Africa, South Asia, and East Asia. She holds an LLM in International Relations and a Master’s in Human Rights. She has also obtained two postgraduate degrees in International Development and Diplomacy and World Affairs. She is also a proud Humber Alumni. During her academic life, she has had several journal and research publications on gender rights and security.

Alex Husband

Grant Writing and Strategic Communications Specialist

Alex is IDI’s Grant Writing and Communications Specialist supportings IDI’s business development and project deliverables as a communication expert.

Alex Husband is a communication specialist with a background in language learning, education, youth engagement, children’s mental health, international development and gender equality. She develops messages to various audiences in the community, academic and public spheres. Alex has worked successfully on proposals for Global Affairs Canada, Public Safety Canada, the Ministry of Health in Ontario, and others. She holds a BA in English Language and Linguistics and Global Culture Studies and two postgraduate diplomas in Applied Linguistics and Professional Writing and Communications.

Kent Schroeder

Senior Advisor – Research, Evaluation & Learning

As IDI’s Senior Advisor in Research, Evaluation & Learning, Kent will support the research component in international development projects.

Kent Schroeder has over 25 years of experience doing development work as a researcher, practitioner and senior executive. He has worked in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and the Canadian arctic. Kent has written and published widely on alternative development models, governance and wellbeing, and participatory development. His research has been internationally recognized, including an award from Bhutan’s Prime Minister for his applied research on that country’s Gross National Happiness governance framework. Kent has a PhD from the University of Guelph in the collaborative Political Science/International Development Studies Program.

Mauro Mazuera

Graphic and Media Design Specialist

Mauro is DI’s Graphic and Media Design Specialist and oversees all visual, graphic and multimedia aspects for the team and in international development projects.

Mauro Mazuera has over 12 years of experience in graphic design and advertising at companies from Colombia, Argentina, United States and Canada. Fluent in English and Spanish, Mauro has a Marketing and Advertising degree from the F.U.A.A. University in Colombia, and an Advertising and Graphic design diploma from Humber college in Toronto, Canada.

Tiffany Duong

Content and Communications Lead

Tiffany is IDI’s Content and Communications Lead and supports IDI's communication and marketing activities and in IDI-led international development projects.

Tiffany Duong is a Humber College alum with an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing and Communications and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from York University. Tiffany’s experience in writing has supported various media pieces such as press releases, social media, and promotional and marketing materials for the team as well as in international development projects.

Lucia Linares Arbelaez

Operations Specialist

Lucia is IDI’s Operations Specialist and supports operations and project mandates within the International Office as well as provide coordinating internal processes and procedures, supporting project implementation, and organizing IDI’s knowledge.

Lucia Linares Arbelaez joined IDI in May 2022 as an Operations Intern and has transitioned into a full-time employee. She has supported projects in different regions such as Kenya and Perú. She has gained experience in areas such as stakeholder communications by using English and Spanish in communication, document translation and different work etiquette.
